This blog isn’t for the world.
It’s for me.
But if it helps you too, that’s even better.
I’m in my 40s. I’ve got kids. I’m retired — I’ll explain that part some other time.
I like to travel. I like to learn. And like most people I know, I’m constantly trying to make myself a little better and a little happier without falling into the trap of chasing things that don’t matter.
I started Call Me Brother because I needed a place to sort out my thoughts. Somewhere to remind myself of the obvious things I already know — the ones that somehow keep slipping through the cracks.
Eat better.
Go outside.
Talk less, listen more.
Don’t try to solve an existential crisis with Amazon Prime.
The point is this: most of what makes life better isn’t exciting.
It’s boring. It’s consistent. It’s showing up, even when it’s not fun or glamorous.
We already know what works.
We just forget.
So I write these posts as reminders — mostly for me, but maybe for you too — that doing the right thing is usually not dramatic. It’s just a series of small, quiet choices that add up.
I mean, look at the photo on this page.
We live in a world where we need signs telling people how to sit on a toilet.
That’s funny — and it’s also kind of the whole point.
We overthink. We overreact. We forget the basics.
Sometimes, we just need a sign that says:
Hey, maybe don’t make things harder than they have to be.
Because I think we belong to each other.
Not in a soft, sentimental way — in a practical, real-world way.
We all want to be loved. We all want to feel useful. We all want peace of mind.
And most of us already have a decent idea of what we need to do to get there — we just need reminders, encouragement, and the occasional well-placed joke to keep us moving.
So I write to myself.
I say “we” because I’m right there in it.
And if you see yourself in any of it, then I’m glad you’re here.
Let’s try to do a little better — together.
